Meet Charley, a 1-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a gentle spirit and a big heart. Cavaliers are known as "love sponges" for their natural ability to offer warmth and unconditional acceptance. Research shows that petting a dog can lower cortisol and blood pressure while releasing serotonin and oxytocin to help ease anxiety. Charley works part-time at Nurture, often curling up next to clients for a peaceful nap. Gentle, small, and non-threatening, he is wonderfully easy to be around.

When he isn't assisting in sessions, Charley stays busy rolling in the grass, following his humans everywhere they go, and removing squeakers from his toys.

Charley does not attend initial intake sessions so we can focus on your initial care plan. Intake forms include a space to request Charley as a co-counselor subject to his availability. Charley’s presence is completely optional. To respect preferences, allergies, or fears, Charley only joins sessions upon request.
