More than forty years ago, Charles and Catherine Fayssoux purchased a historic former residence on Lavinia Avenue for Charles’ real estate office. Over the decades, several of his close friends leased space in the building, working side by side and deepening their longtime friendships both inside and outside the office. Following Charles’ passing in 2020 and the retirement of his colleagues, the building served as the home of the Greenville County Historical Society. Charles deeply cherished this old building—imperfections and all—and added two antique stained glass windows that still adorn the space today.

Today, Charles and Catherine’s daughter, Claire Fayssoux Barnett, has transformed the beloved space into Nurture Counseling Services. Much like the generation before them, the therapists at Nurture are far more than just colleagues—they are dear friends with ties going back decades, having met as graduate students, school counselors, and long-time co-workers. There is no doubt Charles is looking down with pride, happy to see a new group of close friends filling these walls and doing the work they love.
